چکیده

Height is not only important to physical health but also to social and psychological well-being. It is widely accepted that growth is assign of health. At all statureisan unattainable dream for many. At present, treatment with growth hormone alone or with growth hormonereleasing factor is the only treatment available. However, long-term treatment with growth hormone has numerous side effects, including rapid progression through puberty and a reduction in bone mineral density [1]. In addition, the need for daily injections makes growth hormone treatment unpopular; therefore, this treatment is reserved for patients with the most severe growth deficiencies.

Xeno-oestrogens and phyto-oestrogens are alternative ligands for the androgen receptor.

The androgen receptor (AR) plays a critical role in prostate cancer development and progression. This study aimed to use a computerized docking approach to examine the interactions between the human AR and phyto-oestrogens (genistein, daidzein, and flavone) and xeno-oestrogens (bisphenol A, 4-nonylphenol, dichlorodiphenyl trichloroethane [DDT], diethylstilbestrol [DES]). The predicted three-dim...

Effect of forage on the content of phyto-oestrogens in bovine milk.

Phyto-oestrogens are believed to have a range of beneficial effects on predominant Western diseases. A few studies on phyto-oestrogens in milk exist and show that the composition can be affected by feeding. Therefore, the aim was to study how feeding of lucerne and grass/clover silages (GCSs) affects the concentration of phyto-oestrogens in bovine milk. Sixteen Danish Holstein cows were assigne...

Phyto-oestrogens in herbage and milk from cows grazing white clover, red clover, lucerne or chicory-rich pastures.

A grazing experiment was carried out to study the concentration of phyto-oestrogens in herbage for cattle and in milk during two periods (May and June). Forty-eight Danish Holstein cows were divided into four groups with four treatment diets; white clover, red clover, lucerne and chicory-rich pastures. Each experimental period lasted 15 days. Herbage samples from the first day and individual mi...

Phyto-oestrogens: do they have a role in breast cancer therapy?

Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women. Each year 44 335 women living in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer. Female sex hormones, such as oestrogen, are clearly implicated in breast cancer and conventional treatments include manipulation of the hormonal environment. There is both epidemiological and experimental evidence that plant oestrogens (phyto-oestrogens) in the diet ma...

Dietary phyto-oestrogens: molecular mechanisms, bioavailability and importance to menopausal health.

Following the high-profile studies on hormone replacement therapy which provided little evidence in support of the drug therapy improving future health, there remains a growing demand for dietary solutions for maintaining health and preventing disease as women age. Although interest in the relative importance of phyto-oestrogens to human health has increased dramatically over the last decade, t...
